DigiBrix and Carnegie Mellon University's CIO Institute recently hosted Pittsburgh's first CIO Conclave, which focused on responding to the challenge of managing large-scale projects.

CIO's face numerous challenges in moving their businesses forward, with one of the most daunting being conducting large-scale projects. These efforts are highly visible, resource intensive and hold the promise of significant business transformation. Because of this, CIO's walk a tightrope between hero and villain, dependent on many people; some of whom they don't have direct control over. DigiBrix assembled the following panel of outstanding local CIO's who responded to this challenge and agreed to share their insights.

Diane Watson, Medrad
Scott Sullivan, Pitt-Ohio Express
Ralph DiNinino, Pharmacare Specialty Pharmacy

The keynote address was provided by Robert Rubin an internationally acclaimed author and speaker, who also served as senior vice president and CIO for Elf Atochem North America, a $2 billion diversified chemical company. While in this position Mr. Rubin received numerous industry awards, including being named one of Computerworld's first Premier 100 IT Leaders, "an award that recognizes the most innovative, outstanding executives in information technology." Mr. Rubin also moderated the panel.

Janet Cohen, Executive Director, of the CIO Institute spoke on the programs and education offered by the institute, and the event was sponsored by Ciber, ProTech, I2 and Avokia. IT leaders from all over the area and diverse industries participated in one of the most enjoyable and educational panel sessions in many years. DigiBrix is already discussing partnering with the Greater Pittsburgh CIO Group to host future such events.

DigiBrix is a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania based company developing a dynamically interrelated knowledge repository for managing all aspects of IT business operations - people, projects, assets, support and vendors.
